After the sale of all SOEs, we become beggars and slaves on our own rich land. All State Owned Enterprises (SOEs) since independence have been running by political cronies making profits for the corrupt politicians, while tax payers have paid for its operations out of their hard earned cash to keep them in operational. Now the selling and privatization of the SOEs is to legalize ownership back to the same corrupt politicians, political cronies and their foreign friends, whom have been running them down. Now look at what has been happening with the extractive industry. Foreigners and foreign owned multi - corporations have been exploiting our resources (oil, gas, minerals, fishery, timbers) with the help of the corrupt politicans through tax breaks and cuts. The revenues the State has been collecting from equities, royalties, and taxes have been squandered and stolen by the corrupt politicians, bureaucrats and their network of cronies; building their personal wealth empires while the people have been forced to suffer. Go to SHP and Hela provinces and you will find out for yourself. There is nothing to show on the ground despite SHP has been receiving the biggest cut in the budget every year apart from the equities, royalties, development levies, and infrastructure development grants received from the oil and gas projects. Also take a long hard look at what is happening with the small and medium scale businesses that supposed to be operated by locals. Our corrupt politicians are allowing foreigners to own and run these businesses too, taking away our business opportunities, forcing us to work as laborers with poor working conditions. Even jobs that are supposed to be preserved for locals are now allowed by our corrupt politicians for foreigners to take them away from us, while unemployment in the country is still the highest in the world. Our lands in towns and cities are now given away like hot cakes to foreigners in the name of development while we have no lands to build our homes, forcing us to find shelter in the settlements. After all the SOEs are sold, we will literally have nothing. Our corrupt politicians are now signing off and sealing the sale of PNG to foreigners allowing us to be slaves and beggars in our own rich country.
