After this guy got into our building and stole my bike from the garage on December 17, Ill have to go and buy a new one at some point. The bike was locked to the racks in our basement garage; I had the bike for about 4 years, and took it on some long rides to Hamilton, or rail trails outside Toronto. Im still angry about it. I was happy enough to know that the police took my report seriously enough, even dispatching an officer to collect the copy of the surveillance footage, once I got a copy, o the detective constable assigned to the incident could review. (The D.C. was a very nice guy, he called me back the next day to follow up.) The bike was registered with the police, the wheels secured to the frame, so I did all I could to keep it safe. But Im am in the market for a new bike. Im going out to see about deals - but Im looking for something similar to what I had (straight handlebars, light but a bit rugged for the rail trails, but suited for a long ride). The Kona Dr. Dew FS (front suspension) that I bought four years ago (on sale) was near perfect. I liked the front suspension fork for the city potholes and the rougher flat trails, but is that necessary? Any advice is appreciated as I consider a new bike.
