After two days, I fell off Shannon Jarrell-Iveys 7 days of Thankfulness Wagon. Getting back on today. Three more things: 1) The Series of Unfortunate Events last year that led to my current freedom from the slow fluorescent light & cubicle poisoning Id been subject to for 18 years. Yes, those events were awful and maddening, and lots of stuff is still broken, but as a result I now work from home, with my cat, on projects on which I want to work. So, in that respect at least, I am thankful. 2) My height. It is good to be tall. On occasion it is inconvenient - I hit my head a lot, economy class air travel is excruciating, and clothes have to be tailored, but I can reach things on high shelves, see over crowds, and pick-up other people to carry them away from danger. I used to be very sad that I was too tall to be an astronaut, but, lets face it, whatever my potential, I was never gonna work hard enough to become an astronaut and we all know it. 3) The community of indie filmmakers whove welcomed me these past seven years, with whom Ive made three lovely projects of my own (yes, three: Alice and the Monster will be done this year, I swear it), and for whom Ive been honored to act in dozens more. Having a close team of creative and absurdly talented friends is priceless (you know who you are), and having a larger community of hungry creatives helps to fuel that ongoing fire in me. Thank you all.
