After watching the boring documentary Confessions of a Burning Man - TopicsExpress

After watching the boring documentary Confessions of a Burning Man it occurs to me that someone should radicalize the event. For now, Burning Man is an annual orgy of privilege for those with disposable income to enact a ritual of conspicuous combustion. A lot of the art is really impressive, but the discourse around it is banal and superficial, typical of bourgeois alternative cult. The temporary autonomous zone has potential, but it is wasted on aimless idealized regression to a pretended childish innocence. To underscore this, the film focusses on the supposed struggles of a Getty heiress who flies in and lands in her private airplane. The final scene of this documentary shows the little golf cart taxi with no driver endlessly going in circles, round and round in an empty gesture of futility without destination, with nobody on board. The filmmakers total ignorance of film history is painfully apparent in this scene, which unconsciously imitates Herzogs final scene in _Stroszek_ -- a crushing evocation of the same banality of contemporary society.
