After years of strong opposition from the Labor Government, - TopicsExpress

After years of strong opposition from the Labor Government, Minister for Defence Materiel, Dr Mike Kelly, today announced the Government will change the way some military retirement pensions are adjusted for cost of living increases. The announced change is a Labor election promise that will be introduced next year if the Government is re-elected. The Government in its 2007 election promise to the defence community said it would fix the superannuation indexation problem for serving and former ADF members. The Coalition has re-affirmed its pledge that in Government it will legislate for fair superannuation indexation in its first budget so that DFDB/DFRDB superannuates over the age of 55 will be indexed by the higher of CPI, PBLCI, with the percentage increase benchmarked to MTAWE. For those that dont know, Labor said in its 07 election campaign they would do exactly what Kelly promised today, but when it was put to parliament EVERY single Labor MP voted against it, as did the three Independents, and now they are repeating the same promise. Can we trust Labor to keep their promise? Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me! You can not believe one word these bastards say, they renigged last time, they will do it again
