Rick Agnew from the Adolescents too-amazing: .https://youtube/watch?v=t4kwYhdD79o Then found, the Ventures and Dick Dale (60s surf) reminded me of TSOL and the Adolescents-So grown to love was 60s surf music. https://youtube/watch?v=Z8e-SStDMf4 We had the honor of touring with TSOL and we picked Ron Emerys brain about his guitar playing-He mentioned learning the Ventures tunes on guitar as a kid with a play along with the Ventures record-How cool, we thought. Then heard, the Spanish Guitar-The players from Seville: https://youtube/watch?v=oEfFbuT3I6A Realized it was a big inspiration behind surf. Then found the Arab influence on Spain and its music (Muslim conquest in 712-ad) https://youtube/watch?v=qClCmd5zf9w Then deeper to the source... Currently my mind is blown by Sufism-I cannot help but study it and try, try, try to understand its essence. Tracing the sound back to its source it becomes more and more multidimensional...So beautiful, so expressive.
