Agencies Halt Spread of Kingsbury Fire South Lake Tahoe, Calif. – Fire crews and aircraft have halted the forward advancement of a fire off Kingsbury Grade in Lake Tahoe, Nevada. Firefighters from the U.S. Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit, the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, the Nevada Division of Forestry, and local fire districts, including East Fork, Tahoe Douglas, Lake Valley, and South Lake Tahoe responded to the Kingsbury Fire. The fire’s size was estimated to be as large as six acres at one point, but it has been downgraded to 1.5 acres. Crew are constructing fire line and have deployed fire hose around the fire. Due to the progress in suppressing the fire, all aircraft except one helicopter have been released. The helicopter is dropping water on the fire. The fire is located in the canyon below the Ridge Resort on Tramway Drive near the top of Kingsbury Grade about 4 miles in. While structure protection crews were deployed as a precaution, there is no threat to residences or other structures.
