Ah yes... Brooke Organista sent in this picture of her tomatoes asking what it was. Sadly, this is the effects of "Blossom End Rot" on tomatoes. It is a systemic disease that hits tomatoes right around the time that they start ripening. In the future, you can try to avoid it by even watering in the mornings, mulching the bottom of your tomato plants, so there is no water splashing on the plants, and by adding calcium such as Epsom salts (1 cup to 2 gallons of water). Good luck Brooke, hopefully your tomato plants will push through this and provide you with some edible tomatoes.
