Ahhhhhhhh! I have been struggling to process everything thats been going on. Since the last two weeks in Chiapas, things have been moving at such a fast pace. Once I got to Tlaxcala - where I started working on a project doing political analysis of my experience with collective living, and started talking more regularly with folks back home - my head was really pulled in three directions: 1) soaking in the place and the beautiful, amazing people there, 2) thinking about life in Portland and my future after the program, 3) the academic or formal components of the program. It was a beautiful but really difficult three weeks. The midterm and things going on at home had me feeling a mix of anxiety and intense homesickness, which kept me from being as present as Id have liked to be. On the other hand, I connected on a more human and personally fulfilling level with the people, specifically the CNUC organizers, in Tlaxcala than I did in 6 weeks time in Chiapas. By the end of it, I felt really close with my host family and Dương, and the last few days were probably the best Id had in the program so far. Now Im in Mexico City staying with an autonomously governed, walled community of a couple thousand people. Its beautiful, and our host family has made us feel so at home instantenously. I feel more connected with the urban environment and I think the forms of organizing that spring therefrom will be more relatable to my experience than anything we saw in the campo. Just being in this space has a magical feeling to it. Im just kinda emotionally overwhelmed with everything. Too much happening, too little space to really process it all. And thennnn, I have a final project to start. Whoooo. Lots of photos and stories and reflection to come... after I get back
