Aint life grand....mind you I could DO with a coupla grand...couldnt we all!!! LOL Once again we have a very wet day here in Devon! eh! whatcha gonna do....well I am going to do quite a few things today...firstly phone my landlord, whom I saw sneaking in and out again with much haste yesterday......carrying a coat and overnight bag so I suspect hes gorn orfff for the weekend! And good for him! The man enjoys his life and thats as it should be with all of us! However.....I DID mention to him a few times in recent weeks that with all this rain my back door onto the carpark has swollen badly to the point where in order to get in and out I have to employ brute force and major effort....in getting out I have to kick it hard several times at the bottom right corner to make it open. And in coming back in I have to REALLY slam it hard to make sure it aligns enough for me to be able to close and lock it! I felt sure....and warned him that it couldnt stand this kind of stress without something falling down soon! But he said and did nothing....and yesterday, as I was going out for the whole day to meet someone...so was needing to be off chop-chop!!!....the damn door fell off its hinges as I went out of it! Well the top hinges anyway...but before it could go any further I managed to catch it and realign it and close and lock it - and so it shall have to stay until he returns I guess! At least I have a front door but now I shall have to walk around...in the rain!!!...if I have to go anywhere in my car!! And carry all my groceries that way too....which is a bit inconvenient to say the least!!! Wouldnt be too bad....but walking around has to be done largely onstreet around a VERY busy corner and though its not that far, it IS perilous at the best of times. Ah well...these things are sent to try us.... But landlord s having an expensive time of it lately! Last week he had to get a tree-feller fella in to dispense with our beautiful and old apple tree because it had begun to tilt precariously towards the carpark and he couldnt get his van in to park anymore. I was heartsore at the thought of losing this gracious and magnificent old tree that had given us its best yield of fruit last year than ever before, apparently! But when it was all down, I went to have a look and saw that the large and sturdy stump was hollow in two areas inside...so maybe it was dying anyway, poor old thing! But it had begun to release its hold on the earth and THAT I put down to all the rain making the soil here so damn wet nothing can stay rooted in it...and as landlord said, he should have topped the tree ages ago because it was really top-heavy now! So he got the feller-fella to top the great magnolia tree in the courtyard as well...which he did with a bit too much enthusiasm I think!!! Took off all the existing buds...so not sure we will have any flowers this year ........ahhhhhh :( Right! Must get on....I am such a sweetie really! I have decided not to ruin landlords weekend phoning him today about the door...mind you...it IS Friday only...not quite the weekend and he MAY be able to get hold of someone by phone - he has a retinue of workmen all over the show for every contingency imaginable.....so I shall maybe phone him now!!! Why should I be inconvenienced when I DID tell him about it ages ago!!! Ha! SOOOOOO...NOT such a sweetie after all.....fair warning, guys!!! ^_^ Now...you all have a fab weekend, K....
