Ajuda 1 - After Action Report After a day of frantic fighting between the Conv Forces team and the AQ team as well as the ongoing search for Gull, he managed to evade capture. The warlord is now out of the grip of the Conv Forces and poses an even larger threat to personnel globally. SF attempted to locate, capture and extract Gull but the Jihadist protection team kept engagement to a minimum and held their own. With the rapid advancement of Conv Forces into the area, AQ appeared to have turned tail and fled. This ploy by AQ has given the Conv Forces a false sense of victory and now they have reached too far into the area of operations stretching their supply lines and with rapidly deployed firebases AQ can pin them down and keep them holed up. A truce is being called between an Afghan official and the AQ leader in the next few days to conduct a ceasefire, but peace may not be on everyone’s minds. The day started with Conv Forces (CF) getting dropped by APC south of the village to initiate first contact, under cover of smoke they advanced into the village to meet a stiff wall of resistance from the AQ team who took full advantage of the higher ground. Several pushes by CF on the flanks managed to get them the edge they needed attacking the embedded AQ forces from 3 sides. As the AQ numbers dwindled in the village a concerted effort and much shouting later had the CF team move up, seizing control of the village and raising the flag. AQ attempted to break back into the village on several pushes but were unable to secure the objective. The rest of the day centred around both teams vying for control of Village, Fuel Dump, Bridge, Checkpoint Charlie, Outpost, Missiles and Fallen Tree (whole site to ourselves!) The CF quickly pushed out from the village to the Bridge securing it and creating a valuable crossing point for friendly forces into the Dark Woods area and onwards to the furthest firebases to capture. The AQ team meanwhile kept it quiet mainly disappearing into the ether firing off random shots at the CF team making them move with a degree of slowness and left them feeling unsure as to where the enemy might actually be. As time wore on the AQ team slowly picked up momentum and started to attack several of the CF locations which were now guarded lightly. As the battle picked up around Missiles and Outpost there were reports of skirmishes at the other firebases. The CF teams secondary mission was to move their mortar into a defensive position at Outpost from where they could hit fixed enemy positions within the area, this was accomplished with ease but due to the threat of stingers held by AQ air supply drops of mortar rounds was refused…great a mortar with no rounds! After a break for lunch the AQ team were sent out into the area 10 mins ahead of the CF team to allow them time to setup ambushes and to seize control of the firebases whilst the CF team were scoffing their lunch. The CF team advanced towards Missiles and quickly met resistance, splitting their forces into 3 fronts they kept throwing themselves at AQ until after a while the AQ team fell back having fought very hard over control of the Missiles. Sporadic firefights took place around the other firebases as the CF team pushed forwards until Hedgerows was held by AQ, a sneaky section of the SF team managed to infiltrate Hedgerows and get a foothold but due to their inability to change the control flag they were coming under increased fire as the entire CF team pushed all of the AQ forces into the Hedegrow arena who were in turn firing down at the SF team slowly getting wiped out one by one. Time was running out and the air dropped box was inside CF forces area, seizing the opportunity they retrieved the data laptop and accomplished their secondary mission whilst under heavy fire from AQ advancing through the Steep Valley. Gull was kept alive and thanks to the Jihadist protection team he remained out of harms way elduing the SF and Conv Forces looking for him, well done guys! At the call of mission over there were two last fights of the day. All troops moved to Hedgerows, the AQ team were to defend the middle bunker and prevent the CF team from stopping their bomb countdown timer, they had just 15 minutes to hold them off. From the whistle of game on it was manic, I’ve never heard or seen so many bbs being fired in all directions at anything that moved, resembled a person or possibly a bit of cover that could hide a person. With one side of the arena out of bounds to the CF team they only had 3 angles to attack from. After approx. 7 minutes the CF team had laid down enough fire to push the AQ team back and seized control of the bomb stopping the countdown. At game end AQ didn’t managed to restart the timer. Swapping sides, the CF tam were now in charge of the bomb and again at game on there was a weight of fire from both sides. No matter how hard the AQ team pushed and how sneaky they were they were held at bay on the perimeter of the arena and with the last few moments a heroic effort was made to flood the field with players but the dug in CF team kept them at bay. Just want to say thanks to all those who played on Sunday both new players, regulars and the veterans, I had a really great day and seeing so many people (68 in total, all with happy faces) it made it worthwhile, being out of the game for 6 weeks made me realise how much I miss running airsoft games and I only hope that the game plans, missions, campaigns etc that I provide you live up to your expectations for a fun filled day of airsoft? So with that in mind, get your kit prepped for Ajuda 2 next month where we will have some additional players taking on some roles fitting into the storyline that will ultimately decide who the victors of the Ajuda campaign are. If you can’t wait until then, keep your doors locked and your nappies handy for the ‘Outpost Falling Star’ event on Sept 28th involving the standard 2 teams and a rather scary Nazi zombie team who are going to make your lives very very difficult.
