Al-Makura Escorts Displaced Tiv Farmers -Leadership Nasarawa State governor, Umaru Tanko Almakura, yesterday escorted Tiv farmers who were displaced from their various communities by the recent spate of communal clashes in the state to their places of abode. Almakura who started the exercise at Idadu village in Doma local government area assured the displaced persons that government would provide adequate security to guarantee their safety as they return to their communities to commence farming activities. He said, he decided to undertake the exercise in order to booster their confidence and assure them that government would go the extra mile to ensure that their lives and property are protected stressing, “I decided to come here today to give you confidence that your safety is guaranteed because we are going to add more security post which would work round the clock to ensure you are safe”. Almakura who made similar visits to three other local government areas of Keana, Obi and Awe, made cash donation of N2 million to each community to help the displaced with logistics as they return to their homes. He also made donation of other relief materials to alleviate their sufferings.
