Alan Hansen is the last Liverpool captain to have lifted the league trophy, having skippered the Reds to glory in 1990. The BBC pundit expects Steven Gerrard to inspire the Reds to the title this year. And he says the midfielder reminds him of one of one of Liverpools all-time greats now he has switched to a new holding role. When he played further forward he used to rush from A to B to C and then back to A again, Hansen writes. But now he has taken a more disciplined role, sitting in the hole in a similar position to the one where Graeme Souness played so well. [The Chelsea match] has the look of a title decider about it but with Gerrard in this sort of form, Liverpool could take a massive step towards ending their 24-year wait. Hansens Match of the Day colleague Alan Shearer agrees that the upcoming match between Liverpool and Chelsea will decide the destiny of the Premier League title - and he expects the Reds to prevail.
