Alan is mainly remembered for his collaborations with Go West, Kate Bush and Level 42. Sadly his own compositions are less well known as many never got commercially released apart from the SFX CD. I knew Alan in the late 1970s to the mid 80s. One evening I was privileged to be invited with a friend to the Marquee Studios in London when they were adding the percussion to some of Alans own compositions. I was very fortunate to have been given a copy of the studio tapes. This is one of the finest examples of his incredible playing. I have heard versions of this captured from live recordings credited with the name Murphys Mints but sadly they werent great quality recordings. As far as I know this studio version has never been publicly released. I have only ever known it to be called Mincerama. Alan on guitar, accompanied by the equally incredible Tony Beard on Drums. Im not 100% sure if it was Felix Krish or Pino Palladino on Bass. And maybe Pino on percussion too. Hold on to your seat cos this will blow your socks off. And please PLAY IT VERY LOUD! Enjoy!
