Albany Wind Farm Facts Did you know…. • There are only about 7 days a year when the wind is not strong enough to turn the turbines • There are 18 turbines, which combined have the capacity to meet 80% of Albany’s electricity needs • The blades pivot and the turbines automatically turn to face into the wind! This maximizes the energy produced • At top speed the end of the blades are travelling at 290km/h The Albany Wind Farm is open to the public every day. Free entry, good pathways and several information panels make this an easy, inexpensive and interesting weekend excursion! To go and see these marvels of engineering in action, combined with some stunning views (of course!), take the Princess Ave turnoff from Frenchman Bay Rd, and follow this road onto Sand Patch Rd and continue to the car park.
