Alert : Protests, Clashes Continues In Baramulla On Forth Consective Day. Protests and clashes rocked north Kashmirs Baramulla town for the forth consecutive day on Monday against arrests of youth, locals said. Witnesses said youth clashed with government forces at various places in the town throughout the day. Protests against arrests of youth continued on forth day while clashes erupted on all four major bridges of the town, a local resident said over phone. He said forces resorted to tear smoke shelling to quell the protests. The town also observed complete shutdown, residents said. The government forces had detained eight youth from the town on the charges of stone throwing leading to protests. Residents said police were conducting nocturnal raids to arrest the youth. Voice of Victims, a human rights group, ‘condemned the fresh arrest spree in the district and denounced the use of tear gas shells and pepper gas in controlling the protests’. Executive director of the human rights group, Abdul Qadeer, lashed out at authorities for unleashing a reign of terror through random arrests. He said that at least a dozen of youth including Abdul Qayoom Najar, Nazim Sheikh, Arfan Ahmad Mir, Shoaib Farooq, Arshad Ahmad Mir, Mohsin Solah, Shaid Bhat, Fayaz Ahmad Sheikh have been arrested by police for unknown reasons.
