Alert : Srinagar swelters at 34.1 degree Celsius. Weatherman Predicts ‘Hotter Weather’ In Coming Days. A day after Srinagar recorded the hottest day of season at 34.1 degree Celsius, officials of metrological department Monday predicted hot weather in coming days in the summer capital. On Saturday, the temperature shot up to 34.1 degree Celsius, leaving the Valleyites sweltering. The MeT officials said the place is likely to experience rise in temperature in coming days. The highest recorded temperature ever for the month of June was 37.8 degrees Celsius on June 29, 1978. “For the next two days, the present hot weather conditions are likely to continue. The maximum temperature is likely to rise further in this period,” Director MeT office Sonam Lotus said. Lotus said, “On June 13, we expect some relief as pre-monsoon showers are expected.” “The effect of the showers will be more pronounced in the Jammu region but we are expecting some thundershowers from the evening June 12 onwards in the Valley.” Lotus said weather tolerance level among people of Kashmir has apparently gone down in recent years. “The MeT office gets many telephone calls from people across the valley complaining of sweltering heat,” he said. Lotus termed the present hot conditions “normal temperature for the month of June” in Kashmir but said “the way people are complaining, it appears as if they are experiencing such weather for the first time.” On Monday, the minimum temperature was 18.6 degrees Celsius in Srinagar while the maximum and minimum were 28 and 11 degrees in Pahalgam hill station and 23.6 and 13 degrees in the Gulmarg ski resort.
