Alison Adkins told me about Rinnekoti, a place in or near Espoo - TopicsExpress

Alison Adkins told me about Rinnekoti, a place in or near Espoo Finland, that is more or less a town designed specifically for people with intellectual disabilities. From what I understand it is kinda like a group town rather than just a group home. All the businesses, transportation, housing, ect is set up with the disabled population in mind. They also have services and programs specifically for those with Autism. Alison wasnt sure how she felt about it... but that is the American mindset. We worry about discrimination and making sure everyone is treated equally when our focus should be making sure that everyone is treated fairly. Those that oppose sheltered workshops would freak-out at the mention of this town! Youll need to use Google translate but heres a link to the town. I wish there were more pictures! rinnekoti.fi/fi/etusivu
