All: I am asking for prayer for a friend, a documented case of a very rare out of control cancer Stuart Presss status. 3 hours ago Brain Cancer Fight PLEASE DO NOT E-MAIL, MESSAGE, TEXT OR CALL ME AS I AM ALREADY OVERWHELMED BY FAMILY AND FRIENDS. (Posting on this post or writing on my timeline is ok.) As many of you know I am dealing with brain cancer. Dec 18 I was diagnosed with a 4.5 cm brain tumor in my left occipital lobe that was very accessible and looked possibly benign. It was 100% resected and I was back and work 1 1/2 weeks later, although it was taking weeks for pathology to diagnosis it. Then, Jan 17th I had a series of seizures and then bad headaches leading to diagnosis of a 5.5 cm on Jan 25th, same sport. It was again completely resected plus 1-2cm margin, which took most of my peripheral vision on the right side. Final diagnosis of both tumors was an Anaplastic (i.e. Malignant) Pleomorphic Xantho Astrocytoma (PXE), which is 1% of brain cancers, but this was WAAAAAAAY more aggressive than any PXA...in fact must be close to the fastest growth brain cancer tumor ever discovered! Started and aggressive radiation treatment at Stanford 15 days post op including targeted radiation, as well as whole-brain & spinal radiation to prevent spreading. I was managing the side effects well (spinal especially kicks your ass.) March 10th we did a mid-course MRI and discovered a 1 tumor in the original location...could be radiation resistant or could have blown up in the 15 days between surgery and start of radiation. Right up against the skull, so felt like it was very attackable. Then over the past 2 weeks (still in radiation) I started getting tightness of the lungs and was getting winded more and more winded just walking up stairs, or even standing up for a minute. These were though to be attributable to the radiation (specifically spinal) and got some platelet and hemoglobin infusions, which is pretty common. However, things deteriorated quickly again (keep in mind we had ended the spinal radiation and was only doing targeted.) After more tests and being admitted, the docs determined that the brain cancer had metastasized to the lining of my lungs!!! (Primary brain tumors metastasizing into other organs is almost totally unheard of!!) We are going to begins a chemo drug recently approved to target the BRAF V600E mutation commonly found in malignant melanoma, today or tomorrow. Docs this is probably the last chance to get control of this. Im scarred as hell, but will fight to my last breath...for my wife Tracy Press, my 15 mo old son, for my family, and for so any amazing wonderful friends I have made through LaGrange and the cycling community. Love and miss you all! -Stu
