All I have to do to absolutely KNOW why I am against commercial horse slaughter is listen to the interview with a kill buyer. Ive just been having a debate on another FB page regarding commercial horse slaughter, and it has left me feeling really sad and disappointed in people that value their rights to do whatever they want to with their horses, even when it is pointed out how brutal the commercial horse slaughter industry is. Sad that I actually knew several of the other kill buyers and horse dealers he speaks of, but if I hadnt had that interaction, I wouldnt have been able to do the feedlot rescues more recently, and also save horses from slaughter years ago in SoCal by having my clients buy show prospects, and would have instead displayed too much emotion which many kill buyers and horse traders are really uncomfortable with, so they dont like to deal with people who are too emotional. In part 2 of the interview, this kill buyer talks about getting the contract to trap wild horses and then ship them to slaughter...... .this includes the Sheldon Wild Horses....really just sad and disgusting stuff, however, people like him are still operating in California even though buying and selling horses with the intention of shipping horses to slaughter has been ILLLEGAL since 1998, but its still business as usual with horse rescues talking frequently about outbidding the kill buyer (at the sale) and we bought a horse off the meat truck....it makes me wonder WHY arent any of the horse rescues in CA trying to expose and stop the business as usual of kill buyers still buying horses to ship to slaughter?
