All Night Nippon When I was a junior high student, it was popular among students to listen to the radio in the midnight. Sitting up late night and listening to the night radio program was something like a new adventure for rural boys like me. Everybody in the school had a brand new radio and tape recorder. Their favorite radio program was All Night Nippon featured by Shofukutei Tsuruko, a Japanese traditional teller of funny stories. It was broadcast between 1:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. on Sundays. I would get up late in the Sunday morning. All Night Nippon by Tsuruko had various humors, interesting short stories, jokes, horror stories, games and so on. I would talk about what was interesting in All Night Nippon with my peers in the school on Mondays. In recent years I had been listening to the news on podcast in the bed in the night. However, after 40 years of break, I started to listen to All Night Nippon again instead of the news. Its amazing that All Night Nippon has existed for more than 40 years. I like to listen to Ms Yui Yokoyama, a member of AKB 48 talk in the program. She speaks in Kyoto dialect and her voice is clear and sounds pleasant to my ears. Members of AKB 48 feature All Night Nippon on Wednesdays and Yui-han (her nickname in Kyoto dialect) is a frequent guest to the program. The December 10 program of All Night Nippon was extraordinarily interesting. Yui-han and Taka-mina (The nickname of Ms Minami Takahashi, a popular member and a general manager of AKB 48) appeared in the program. Taka-mina declared two days before the program her resignation from AKB 48 and designated Yui-han as the next general manager. They discussed behind the reasons around her resignation and how they wish AKB 48 to be in the future in a very serious way. I found how deeply Taka-mina has been caring for AKB 48 for last 9 years and she has a great talent to observe people.
