All Saints Day 43 mins ago by Faith &Grief All Saints’ Day, November 1st, is on our calendar of faith as a day to remember all who have gone before us and now abide in God’s eternal home. It is a time to celebrate the saints—the men, women, and children who nurtured and encouraged us and who continue to love and inspire us to live with greater reverence and gratitude. The day also gives us an opportunity to compassionately reach out to persons who are left heart broken in the aftermath of the death of their loved one. How can we impart God’s blessing of comfort for those who mourn? What words and actions can we take that show our respect and support for each person’s individual journey of grief? Over the past 5 ½ years, Faith & Grief Ministries has asked persons in both raw and lingering grief these very questions. We want to pass on to you some of the ideas they shared that brought them comfort. Write a personal note (use the enclosed card) that recalls specific memories you treasure about the person who has died. Connect them to a supportive and understanding community by inviting them to a Faith & Grief luncheon so that they do not feel isolated. If possible, attend with them. Encourage them to tell and retell their story of love and loss for there is healing power in the telling of story. Lead them to read other stories on FaithAndGrief.org Make a gift in memory of their loved one(s) that will provide resources of comfort to others in grief. The names of persons remembered will be posted on a special All Saints’ page on the Faith & Grief Ministries website. We are most grateful for the generosity of time and financial gifts that have granted us opportunities to expand Faith & Grief Ministries in a very short time. Covenants with new Host sites: Highland Springs in Dallas, Texas and Christian Health Care Center in Wyckoff, New Jersey.
