All aboard! The Rochelle Railfan Park is hosting the 9th Annual Railroad Days celebration on Saturday June 7 and Sunday June 8. The Flagg Township Historical Museum will feature a special railroad display for the weekend and Roy’s Transfer’s Antique Mack Truck Display will be open both days. On Saturday from 11am to 8pm, visitors will enjoy the sights and sounds of the Railfan Park. The History of Whitcomb Locomotive will be on display inside the gift shop from 11am-6pm. Local musician, Jim Kanas will play from 5-6:30pm and 7-8:30pm and Gene Chlor, “Medicine Man” will give a History of Hobos presentation from 6:30-7pm. Children will be treated to complimentary face painting and kiddie-train rides provided by Maplehurst. Another fun-filled day begins Sunday at 11am and continues until 6pm. In addition to the Antique Mack Truck Display, History of Whitcomb Locomotive Display and the Flagg Township Museum opening, musician Mark Lyons will play at the Railfan Park Pavillion from 1:30-3:30pm. Mr. D’s Magic Show will entertain children of all ages at 4pm, 4:45pm and 5:30pm and the complimentary kiddie train rides will run from 1-5pm. The LGB Model Railroad Club will hold their display in the Masonic Temple on Saturday & Sunday from 11am-5pm. The LGB Model Railroad Club promotes large-scale model railroading to show the public many different facets of large-scale model railroading from decorating whimsically or authentically to wiring easy or ambitious track plans. Enjoy a free shuttle service from Railfan Park to the Standard Oil Filling Station, Flagg Township Historical Museum, and Roy’s Transfer’s Antique Mack Truck Display and the Masonic Temple Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 5pm compliments of the Hub City Senior Center.
