All around Australia, on almost any livestock producing farm you will find working dogs. Breeds vary between Kelpies, Border Collies, Cattle Dogs, Coolies, Smithfields, Huntaways and crosses of these dogs are commonly used for working stock on stations and smaller properties. The type of dog depends on the work it is required to do. Sheep dogs usually have good cover and cast for holding sheep in a mob and moving mobs. Cattle dogs may be required to be more forceful to move cattle with bite and bark. Goat mustering dogs are fast and tough and will display good holding ability. Dairy farmers require dogs that will push from behind. It is suggested that a good dog is equivalent to five men. Loyal and hard working companions to our livestock producers.
