All month long we have featured the profiles of the many talented artists that will be presented at the 22nd Annual Mill Race Festival of Traditional Folk Music. Well today is our last opportunity as our free festival commences this evening at 7 pm. So it is with great pride that we post the last daily featured performer. Today’s feature performer is no stranger to Mill Race Folk Society board members, members, volunteers and festival attendees. This free festival would not exist if it wasn’t for the tireless efforts of a member of today’s feature performer. Thanks Brad and happy belated birthday! Hunter’s Corners Hunter’s Corners was the 19th Century name for the intersection of what is now Highways 8 and 24 in the geographic centre of Cambridge, Ontario. It was so-called because there was an inn there at that time called The Royal Oak which was owned by a man named Hunter. The duo of Bill Nesbitt (concertina, harmonica, vocals & jaw harp and Brad McEwen (citterns & vocals) chose this name because of its local connection. As well as being a musician for Oakville Ale & Sword Dancers, Bill specializes in traditional songs and tunes from Newfoundland. Brad has spent many years with the traditional folk music of the British Isles and has most recently focused on both Canadian variants of British Isles ballads and songs from Canadian history. Bill lives in Hamilton, Ontario most of the time and in Newfoundland when he can. Brad lives in Cambridge, Ontario most of the time and in Stroud, Gloucestershire when he can. Do not miss your chance to hear Bill and Brad perform at this years festival!!! millracefolksociety
