All of my family is from a lovely, small town in southern Kentucky... Albany, Kentucky. Years ago when I first got out of the U. S. Navy, I was visiting my grandmother(my moms mom) who lived in Albany, for the weekend. My grandfather had passed away many years earlier and my granny lived alone. While visiting, she and I were having a nice chat(probably after a wonderful meal), and she asked me if I would like to move down to Albany from Louisville, KY and stay with her until I decided what I wanted to do with my life. She said, I will cook for you and wash your clothes... Well get to spend some time with each other. Of course, I was 24 years old, incredibly self-centered... thinking about myself and what i wanted most of the time. That sounded pretty good to me. One Sunday afternoon, I was watching television and during a commercial, I got up to go to the bathroom. I went through the kitchen and as I was making my way into the bathroom... she was coming out. As she passed me, I could see that she had been crying. Surprised and concerned, I said, Granny... Why are you crying? She looked up at me and with a little grin, she said, Honey its ok... Every Sunday, after church and lunch, I go into my bedroom and lay down across my bed and have a good cry... and I always feel better. She missed my grandfather so much, but her faith and love for God never wavered. She was alone for 30+ years. Its such a wonderful memory for me! I will never forget that Sunday afternoon. It has meant meant so much to me since she passed away. I miss her! This song, When I Cry makes me think of her and it has really comforted me in some really hard times when I have needed to cry. :)
