All of my non-Assyrian friends need to know what is happening in Iraq. Particularly in Mosul, its second largest city, which was taken over by Islamist State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). Last Saturday the ISIS Thugs proclaimed that the Christians (Assyrians, Chaldeans, Armenians and Syriacs) have no place there and gave them an ultimatum that gave them 3 choices: 1- Convert to Islam 2- pay a special ridiculous Tax or 3- leave or Face the Sword. They setup road blocks to take away all of their possessions including their cars, money, jewelry. They took wedding bands (sometimes, the fingers still attached) Pretty much all their livelihood. Thousands of people had to walk over 40 miles in 100+ weather to the closest Iraqi Kurdistan city or villages, which has done them wrong as well, but have been willing to take them in in the face of such extremism. The initials: U.N. to me has and will always stand for UnNecessary. President Hussein Obama is not doing much better by his deafening silence about the Christian Plight in the ISIS controlled areas, because hes been arming them in Syria. Thats so funny... US has been calling the ISIS in Syria Freedom Fighters and arming them, but theyre calling the same exact group Extreme Jihadists in Iraq. Even Islamic moderates are calling this a crime against Islamic Law. My friends, there is not much we can do physically in Iraq, however, what we can do as Americans is to call our Representatives in Congress and even the White House. I implore you to talk about this with whomever you know and get them informed of this Humanitarian disaster and quiet Genocide thats happening. If nothing else, please say a special prayer for our fellow human beings to survive in the most exhausting conditions ever imaginable. My wife and my family are running out of tears.
