: All of the contrived controversy surrounding this movie has led me to make it a PRIORITY to view it this weekend. I dont take MOST people seriously when they try to debate the Bible, anyway. So, all of the outraged people are wasting their time and energy with me. Some Producers and Directors decided to examine as story; embellish the story line a bit, and not in a disrespectful or contradictory manner; and make a movie adaptation [the Trailer is incredible; for the record]. Do any of the detractors even realize that with any story in the Bible, literal or figurative, A LOT of details are often left out; and left to the readers imagination. Intrinsic cultural components and facts about regional customs are left out; details about the characters features, immediate & extended families, likes & dislikes, highs & lows, hobbies & habits, sleeping patterns, favorite meals, favorite colors, ability to sing or not (whether they have perfect pitch, relative pitch, or happen to be completely tone deaf) are left out; a description of the timbre of their voices, the texture of their hair, whether or not they have oily, dry, or combination skin, the color of their eyes, their muscle to body fat ratio information is left out; the nuances of the landscaping where these people lived is often left out; etc.! This list could go on and on. Therefore, some people choose to use what is called EISEGESIS [the process of interpreting any particular text or portion of a text in such a way that it introduces ones own presuppositions, agendas, or biases into and onto that text or passage of given information] to fill in the blanks. EISEGESIS, especially when dealing with the Bible, is never considered to be gospel truth; its just assumption or sometime the product of someones vivid imagination. I think we are - again - dealing with MAJORING IN MINORS. The fact that the story - or any story from the Bible - is being highlighted is a great thing. Those who are wise can and should use the highlighting of the story as a way to share their own interpretation of the story; if one believes that the Hollywood depiction isnt quite as accurate. Still, the question remains: What is the actual POINT of the story? Another curious question to ask is whether or not those conversing about the story (or the issue with the movie) believe that the story is a LITERAL or a FIGURATIVE or CONTEXTUAL story? Those who take issue with the creative sharing of the story automatically believe themselves to PERFECTLY know the story; and have a monopoly on how the story should be told, with or without that other information - listed above - that we can NEVER know for certain. All of this controversy is LAUGHABLE! Im going to see the movie; and Im going to buy POPCORN and a DRINK to enhance my experience. LOL! *SHURGS*
