All of us agree, that none of us have attained the state of pure white, or Self realization. If we did then we would be in Moksha/Jannat/Heaven. And as such, we all are at some level of shade and oscillate in the degree of the shade at various times. At the same time, there is a clear turning point in our lives when we make a clear determination for self reform... and work towards a definite goal of cleansing our self, in two ways. First, is to be aware and recognize when our speech, thoughts and actions are leading us to the darker side of the spectrum... and work consciously and deliberately to arrest those... when and where possible, and to the degrees and extent possible. And second, honestly and remorsefully repent for our past wrong doings with a close confident, if possible, or just within ourselves... to raise our vigor to abstain from such down the line. One can be a Jain or a Hindu or a Muslim or a Christian or a Sikh or a Buddhist or a Jew or a Zoroastrian… but to be a follower of faith… one needs to imbibe virtues of own faith and live by those. Label sans virtues to drive the faith… is akin to a car with no gas/fuel to run it… one can be comfortable being in there and even socialize with fellow passengers, but will not go anywhere… unless there is a concerted effort to let virtues of own faith reflect in ones own character and conduct... day in and day out. Additionally, application of brakes will significantly aid that process. Akin to that, with all our deficits of anger, ego, deceit and greed, when we make conscious and deliberate effort to not support them (that is no more acceleration and set then in “Neutral” gear)... will gradually loose their power over us, and over a period of time diminish, dictated by natural holding back force (friction) of our conscience (Self/Atma Tattva), and the degree of our self effort (Purushartha, which connotes ‘weight of the car’ in above analogy) to watch our speech, thoughts and actions to apply resistance when possible. And, when we band together (Satsang) with those who are virtuous, or are deliberately on path of self reform, we work to aid that process significantly, akin to applying brakes in above analogy..
