All of us at MABH were very lucky to meet and welcome Hailie, an 11 year old girl, as she spent the day as an honorary future veterinarian. Hailie was awarded the “Vet for a day” package that MABH donated to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s fundraiser this year. In 2005, Hailie was diagnosed with ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia) and after 3 years of hospital stays, chemo treatments, spinal taps, bone marrow aspirates, surgeries, and constant blood tests she is now in remission and eager to pursue her passion to become a veterinarian! Hailie and her family spent a few hours being escorted around by Dr. Cartin; giving her a firsthand experience on what it means to be a veterinarian. Hailie’s mom, Jackie, wrote us stating “We hope she inspires children of all ages in her predicament to be positive in life no matter what!” Please, take a look at the pictures from this very special day.
