All right! The new schedule worked, at least for the 1st day. I woke up and did the usual, let the dog out, record the 24 hour hi/lo temps, get a bowl of cereal (just finished a box of Raisin Bran I had to buy last trip to Eureka because I forgot to take my cooler with the oatmeal in it ), take it upstairs. Take blood presure reading. if I dont like it, take it again. Take blood pressure pill and check it off. Turn on computer, read BBC, Google, Memorandum, TS and WIllits News (well, scan them quickly for something of interest). Then its time for 30 minutes of Northern Renaissance Art. Today was Hugo van der Goes. He did a Temptation of Adam and Eve in which the snake stood upright, had small legs and a human head. Trippy. Then to work. Im getting a Certificate of Rehabilitation for someone who had a couple of ancient felonies on his record, and it has taken forever because the cases are too old to be in the court computers, so they are in some dusty warehouse that no one has time to go root through to find them. Im at the last step, however, so keep your fingers crossed for me. Sorted that out, returned calls, and all the little stuff that fills the day. I broke at 1ish, changed into my yard work clothes and started mowing. Got the north yard finished, near east done, and began on the yard below the law study but by then it was 2pm and time for a hot bath, then lunch. Mary Alice just made some exceptionally good dense bread which tasted really good when heated, buttered, and then coated with pear butter. That was wonderful. Dipping a bit of it into the yoke of my fried egg was heavenly. We have a really thick bacon now, which generates enough grease to make the egg frying easy. Walked to the post office, with the dog. That means slow progress because she doesnt get to leave the ranch unless were going on a walk and shes leashed. So, in the 1/4 mile to the post office there is an astonishing number of things to smell. Im sure it took twice as long as it would were I dogless. Not much mail, but since I had the dog thats just as well. I should get a dog pack for Zukie to wear, then she could carry the mail back. Note to self: dog pack? More work. While surfing legal issues on the web I found a 140 page summary of California Water Law put together by the California government. Downloaded it at once. This summer should see a real intersection between the law of water, and the law of pot since we are likely to be short on the former, and flooded with the later. Isnt there a potential pun in there about water and pot? Ive been looking for something like this compendium of law, now to get time to read it. DA race on in earnest now. Ive had calls from representatives of at least 3 of the 4 candidates. Interesting to see who is backing whom. From what I can see its somewhat like random selection - people back the first one to approach them. No one knows what the DA does anyway. I hope to have all 4 candidates on my show: two a week from Thursday, the other two in late April. But Ill have to sleep on it. Starting now. Good night friends. May your bread be nourishing and delicious. Pleasant dreams.
