Newcastle have all but abandoned hope of re-signing QPR striker Loic Remy, who spent last season on loan with the Magpies, on a permanent deal. DAILY MIRROR Tottenham are poised to make a move for versatile Villareal defender Mateo Musacchio, for a fee of £17m. Chelsea and Ghana winger Christian Atsu is set to join Everton on loan. THE INDEPENDENT Thomas Vermaelens friendship with Manchester United striker Robin van Persie, with whom he shares an agent, may help sway the Belgians decision if he does leave the Emirates.
