All the support has been overwhelming and greatly appreciated. Dealing with the VA can be quite difficult regularly. When it comes to my head and my condition (Pseudo Tumor Cerebri) k always seem to find Drs who are willing to listen and take extra steps to avoid cutting me open. Sometimes I encounter Drs who want to avoid dealing with me at all. Luckily I havent run into too many Neurologist that fall in the latter category. Todays trip to Miami introduced me to a Plastic surgeon who specializes in eye surgeries. After the weeks of testing and road trips, it was decided that the eye surgeries would be a waste of time, and risk permanent blindness for a process that may not help ( he is sure it wouldnt help). His interpretation of my test results is on the opposite side of what has been previously discussed. He also took the time to explain his reasoning, and why it is easy to go either way with the results. Bottom line, my condition give me concussion like symptoms all the time. This can be caused by too much fluid around the Brain, or too little. My condition needed a Shunt in order to be under control, but the symptoms of a failed shunt or a shunt that is working too efficiently are the same while being completely different causes. Sadly this means I am at square one, but we are going to take steps to identify which end of the spectrum we are on and proceed accordingly. This doesnt eliminate the need for surgery, just changes which surgery I are having. The testing needed isnt very pleasant (to the normal person), but I will do what is needed to improve my quality of life. A revision to my shunt is probably the outcome of all of this, and will probably lead to another brain surgery. It is quite frustrating to go through all of this, but having the supporting cast I have around me (old freinds/Family, and some new Friends/Family) has been quite inspiring and motivational. I think I can safely say I wont have any procedures done in 2014.. keeping my fingers crossed.
