All-time hike number 4: Blue Lakes/Mount Sneffel Wilderness Trail Colorado Rockies: This was my first great, oh my god, I can’t believe what I am seeing hike during the past four years. The Blue Lakes are located in an extremely scenic glacial basin near Quray Colorado in the San Juan Mountains. The designated wilderness which contains the three Blue Lakes offers a spectacular wildflower show in the middle of the summer. If you make it to the highest of the three lakes I would suggest continuing on to 13,000 foot Blue Lake Pass where one can soak in the incredible view of all three lakes and 14,000 foot Mount Sneffel which is one of the most spectacular peaks in the Colorado Rockies. I love this hike and have many great memories of walking through meadows of beautiful yellow wildflowers which were abundant on this hike.
