Allow me for one moment to speak from a dark corner of my distant past, of which I am not proud. If this is too personal for you or too uncomfortable, scroll on. Straight to the point: if you have cheated on the person you are with, if you have ANY SHRED of love & respect for that person, you will tell the truth & admit to him/her exactly what you did & I will tell you why: this person DESERVES nothing less than that & he/she should have the right to decide whether or not to stay with you. Period. The most important thing here is not sparing this person pain by lying to them (complete & utter disrespect), the most important thing is TRUST & if you have broken that, the ball is in the other persons court as to whether or not they want to try & make it work...ITS NO LONGER YOUR DECISION. If you dont come clean, then you dont truly love or respect the other person because you are deceiving him/her into believing that trust is there when it isnt & you therefore are committing the greatest relationship sin of all, which is WASTING SOMEONES TIME. At least give that person the chance to be with someone who DOES love & respect them, a chance to have real trust...whether or not its with you. Yes, it will be the hardest thing in the world to come clean & admit that you have done something morally reprehensible but its the RIGHT THING & at the very least it shows that you do have some measure of love & respect for that person, small as it may be. So DO THE RIGHT THING, own it & come clean...because if you dont, all you are doing is using someone & CONTINUING to waste his/her time. NO ONE deserves that. If what I am hearing today is true, & it sure sounds like it is, then a really, REALLY good person that I know is being severely taken advantage of & taken for a fool and this person deserves to know the truth about what has happened. If you are the guilty party & happen to be reading these words, trust me when I say DO NOT IGNORE THEM...because the truth always finds its way out in the open one way or another. Believe that.
