Ally McCoist, problem or scapegoat? We all have differing - TopicsExpress

Ally McCoist, problem or scapegoat? We all have differing opinions on our managers team selection, tactics, recruitment and coaching however since Charlies Green tried to set a very public target for McCoist I have had an uneasy feeling that he was becoming a target for the board and nothing has happened since to relieve my feelings of moves behind the scenes to a) get the fans to turn against him and b) to have him released from his position. Obviously to remove a popular manager from his post would be detrimental to any board and I feel that several things have been made public this season to try and decrease McCoists popularity with the fans. First we had the aforementioned public target and subsequent verbal ping pong in the media of Green v McCoist which appeared to me as an attempt to give the board a 12 month warm up to sack the manager should he fail to win the Scottish cup and League. When the first set of accounts came out we all found out that the managers wages where circa £800k and this did have an effect on Allys public opinion however I was not comfortable about this at the time as like most lines on a set of accounts some items need to be dissected and some dont. Two lines on the accounts that didnt need dissected where cost of IPO and Management team wages, however the board decided not to dissect the true £6.5m cost of the share issue yet where happy to divulge the managers wages. I dont believe this was done for any other reason than to lower the fans loyalty towards the manager. Fast forward to this week and we see another two stories neatly planted in the media. The request for the team to take a 15% wage cut and the details of the teams pre match arrangements made public. The leak of the wage cut seems strange as it appears to be the only aspect of the boards 120 day plan that they seem happy to discuss publicly and again may be an attempt to drive a wedge between the fans and the team/manager. The other story would at first viewing appear that the team stayed at a four star overnight before last nights match but after further reading we find out it was nothing more than a stop off break during a long road trip for a bite to eat and an opportunity to put their feet up before continuing on to a match. I wouldnt imagine this is the first time the team have had a stop off en-route to an away game yet its the first time it has been reported in the media. Coincidence or planned? You decide. One last point to consider. Some would have you believe that Mr McCoist is responsible for the wage bill at present yet I would think its more likely that the CEO would take care of the financial aspect of player contracts and the board would agree all contracts and set the budgets for such. So ask yourself the opening question again. Is Ally McCoist the problem that has caused the poor financial predicament at our club or being made the scapegoat for them?
