Almost 18 years ago a little baby was born on December 16. He was a tiny little guy that arrived two months premature and he had problems right from the start. Those problems were so critical he was soon moved to Akron Children’s hospital where even the fine doctors there only gave him a 50-50 chance to live. Along with the other issues of being a preemie he had developed a life threatening staph infection. But in spite of the odds the little guy was a fighter and with the help of the eminently skilled doctors and staff at Akron Children’s this tiny boy overcame the odds. Today this little fighter has grown to be a fine young man and very talented musician we know as Andy Smith…who among many other musical endeavors is the amazing keyboard player in our band DeJa Blue. When we talked about playing an event to benefit Akron Children’s Hospital Andy’s eyes lit up like headlights. He was excited to help out and give something back to “the place that saved my life” Well we would like to thank Akron Children’s Hospital for saving Andy as well, just as they do thousands of children just like him every year. DeJa Blue is proud to be playing at the 2013 Holiday Kick-Off Charity Bash this Saturday Nov 23 at WIllowdale Lake Ballroom. This is a BYOB / covered dish type event with donations at the door. Come on out and share an evening with some good friends and listen to Andy “Thelonious” Smith tickle the keys. We’re gonna be featuring him a lot on this very special opportunity to thank and give back to a truly great hospital. Let have a good time…hoping you’ll join us.
