Almost 31 years ago a young 17yr old was struggling with both identity and direction for life. That young man was me. Christmas of that year would prove to be the most transformational holiday I would ever experience. On December 23rd, 1981 I surrendered my life to Christ. The Captain of my Salvation invited me to join His army and gave me the greatest mission on the planet, to rescue hurting humanity and liberate them by offering the life giving message of the gospel. Shortly, after graduating from High School I would join the army and find myself assigned to serve alongside the 1/10th Special Forces in Bad Toelz, Germany. It is interesting that our unit crest would bear the words, De Opresso Libre, from oppression we will liberate them. I have always been a freedom fighter. It never really felt like a sacrifice but a privilege and honor to serve. I have missed everyday since I got out of the service in 1986 but I have never quit fighting to set the oppressed free (Isaiah 61). I appreciate all the kind words and the acknowledgment of my service to our Nation. Continue to pray for all of our troops in harms way. Here are some throw back pics of my days in the army.
