Almost Friday. Lets talk about politics and schools.....Worst possible thing that anyone has done was to put incumbent candidates out in front of the school district override Say Yes to Children campaign. Legally you cant mix the two. But Yes to Childrens head campaigner doesnt seem to let that bother. We can consider ourselves fortunate that the Scottsdale City Council is not in charge of allocation of funds for the Scottsdale Unified School District. The picture below is an example of what the Yes To Children chairman has been trying to avoid and why she reassured Councilman Littlefield that they were no part of the rally. You will no that Scottsdale Coalition Co-Chair, Nancy Cantor has steered clear of Yes To Children because of their past campaign practices. Sadly, these folks continue to practice those campaign tactics, including using the Saguaro High School Marching Band. Hope they donated a bunch to the Saguaro Band Boosters. https://mail.google/mail/u/0/?ui=2&ik=ec688c4629&view=fimg&th=148f6c50c233dfbf&attid=0.1&disp=emb&attbid=ANGjdJ-Yo_z08uLnCHWaY82QdbGjZQMLp_7RpOOYQnuADszXMUyMaKfZ1_hPbtR_5RqU8VYS3sPe8CFi8fFni1iGvMcK3gaz2Mp6IY9X-DJfSWTZzRRGRH9HqwTw2f8&sz=-w1600-h1000&ats=1412892673676&rm=148f6c50c233dfbf&zw&atsh=1 Then lets talk about politics and public safety. Scottsdale as never had leadership that pit the firemen and women against the policemen and women. And we have never had personnel from either department that would voluntarily choose to have that happen. We have never had Council candidates who were so ill informed on public safety. We have never had city leadership that declined to have public safety personnel discuss the issues that accompany infill development and growth. Besides packing more folks into a densely populated part of town and putting new stress on the existing infrastructure, they are creating neighborhoods within neighborhoods, as Nancy Cantor often says. That increases the need for more personnel, more highly trained no having to deal with multistoried buildings housing people 24/7. All of the issues we see in our neighborhoods we now see in the vertical neighborhoods. New skills, new equipment and hopefully a better attitude for funding public safety and more respect and care for all of those needed to keep our families, children, grandchildren, schools, tourists and even City Hall safe.
