She Sings A Pop Song Like It’s 1940, And It’s Better Than The Original! Postmodern Jukebox is a band known for taking popular pop songs of the day and turning them into jazzy, vintage pieces that any age group can appreciate. When they teamed up with Kate Davis, a New York-based musician known for her voice and upright bass skills, to cover the current pop hit “All About That Bass,” they had an immediate classic on their hands! While the lyrics might seem a bit funny when performed as a vintage 1920s piece, the song is inherently listenable, and I even think this version sounds even better! There’s something about the timeless sound of the 1920s – 1940s era that’s still appealing to today’s audience. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that everything was performed live, from instruments to vocals, and everyone played an actual instrument, rather than doing everything with a computer program! What do you think? Entertaining, or what?!
