Almost everyone agrees that we should be training children to recycle waste to save the Earth’s natural resources. Some believe that it is parents who should teach their children to recycle waste. Others argue that school is the best place to teach do this. Discuss both views and give your own opinion Most people would agree that young people need to be taught the importance of recycling in preserving the worlds natural resources. There is a difference of opinion, however, whether it should be done at home or schools are responsible for this. This essay will examine both points of view and then state my opinion. There are number of reasons why it is considered that it is schools duty to create awareness among children regarding recycling of waste. Firstly, there is a learning environment in schools which is best suited to spread knowledge among pupils. For example, the recycling topic to save the Earths natural resources can be included in the course curriculum and delivered through science lecturers who can explain the points to the children with practical examples. As a result of this, children would better grasp the idea and likely to practice it. Secondly, pupils knowledge about recycling can be examined by bringing the topic into the overall exam structure. This may mean that students would study about the topic in order to gain marks. Despite these arguments, there is also a case for advocating that this awareness can be better passed through parents at home. The argument to support this is the fact that children spend most of their time at home with their parents who have ultimate social influence on their behaviour. They can be a role model for their offspring by taking the recycling seriously at home. For instance, they can assign the duty to one of their children to recycle all the domestic waste on a daily basis. This practice likely to work in developing lifetime time habit among their children. Having considered both sides of the arguments, I would argue that both schools and home environments should encourage the behaviour and practices of recycling. It is only through this combination that we can successfully let our children to develop this habit in their daily lives..
