Almost everywhere you look, the writing of scripts is being reduced to A, B, Cs - recipes, templates, 3-Act Structure, blah, blah, blah. Its never about the journey, the solitariness, the inner odyssey, which is really what dramatic writing is all about. The writing is inside you - inside your heart and head - and most of us know neither very intimately. You cant just think your way through a story - you have to suffer with the characters, every moment, not just when your sitting in front of a keyboard. One must abandon oneself to a constant storm of pictures, sounds, voices, beings.
