Aloha Yall, How can I specifically pray for you today? Please read my blog.... Please you dont have to send me a long Email filled with Details, HE already knows, Just send me a word. I really love to pray... ... How you can pray for others from yesterday: Please pray for my sister, Wendy, she was in considerable discomfort and had to go to the hospital. Pray for my sister, Mary, she is recovering from very invasive back surgery and is one of that body braces invented by a sadist in this heat. Pray for a friend of my sister, Alice, who has a serious eye condition that could leave her blind. Pray for my sister in law, Laurie, as she makes adjustments in her life. Pray for tomorrows church services, where ever they may be. ... ... If you dont have a church home, dont want to drive to Reno, or find you come home from, or leave church, ... wondering what applications you can make to your life, not just feeling all good about you because the service was directed at making you feel good about you ... instead of worshipping and praising our Lord, CCFs ONLY service is at 9:45 AM. From Before: I got a praise, my brother Ricks test results were all negative. Please pray for a friend of a sister who was transferred to a better hospital. Please pray for the father of a brother who began to face a long battery of test in an attempt to confirm or reject the presence of cancer in his body. Please be in prayer for the family of my sister and friend Marcie. Her wonderful Mother, went home to be with the Lord last night. Many of us have been in her and her families shoes even recently. So lift them up with empathy. It is amazing how much of our burdens lift off when we go to the throne for others. Pray for a local family whose 31 year old son passed away. Pray for a brother and friend who is waiting for test results. Pray for a brother and his wife who are traveling but also have left aging parents and a very ill sister at home. Pray for the very close friend of a sister who is in Carson Tahoe with serious complications from an internal infection. There are many others.... ... What is happening at CCF: We are finishing a time of Summer Sabbatical. The pastor needed it to get some family issues resolved and needed a mental and physical rest. He is also making a physical life change getting used to a new lifestyle. But that time is ending. SEE YOU SUNDAY AT 9:45 AM Next Week: MidWeek Praise Worship and Prayer returns on Wednesday at 7:00 PM in the Whale Room. Of course Sunday Services will be at 9:45 AM, the Sunday Evening Service will resume on 03 August at 6:00 PM ... Pastors Daily Blog: The Peace of My Mind Aloha Yall, ... ...Be warned this might step on a toe or two until you really think a bout it. I have been thinking about it for two weeks, yesterday was the straw that broke this camels back: ... ...Yesterday at the height of my happiness, I got one of those Emails. Full of platitudes and condescension. I dont think this person realizes just how condescending they are. I know they just want to help, or they think they are helping, but it really put a burr under my saddle for a while. So, I got me to thinking about Christians as a whole. How often do we think a platitude will fix everything? How often do we throw a refrigerator magnet saying, or piece of a verse at a problem? How often do we talk down at the need of another from our lofty position on Mt. Joe, instead coming alongside and talking to the person with the need? How often do we slap an acronym, (lol, bff, etc.) at someone? I am not saying this to be mean but rather to challenge you to ponder this all the way out. Because in our brevity or whatever we not only are selling our friends and loved ones out we are losing something we need. So, do you think Christianity as a whole, and especially the impression of Christians on an ever increasingly lost world is that we are nothing but platitudes, or empty sayings, and that we are condescending, speaking down at the rest of the world from our lofty position? Do we really take the time to care when we cannot even attempt a complete sentence? Do we really connect when we slap out a platitude? Do we really connect when we toss a crumb down on a friend? Think about it. Has social media and the nature of this world started finish the job porch-less sub-divisions started? We dont connect when connection is what we were created for and it is what we really need. ...I am not saying there is anything wrong with social media, text, etc. but the slap and dash world it is creating could be. Contact without connection is a dangerous thing and it is incomplete. Ponder this for about five minutes, dont react, respond..... I pray I dont come across that way. I am really going to look in my mirror carefully and challenge you to be my mirror as well...... Shalom
