Alondra Cano Andrew Johnson how do we get this selectively enforced and probably unconstitutional ordinance changed that says no more than 3 unrelated people? Why do owners who share rooms but dont have leases get a free pass, and why is the city in the business of deciding if someone is related? Or are telling committed gay and straight couples who do not wish to get married they are second class citizens in regards to how many roommates they can legally have? Ames Iowa has exactly the same problem, and the legislation only drives the bad behavior (in this case by college students) underground, where parents buy their kids a house and it turns into animal house with 5 people passed out on the porch on a saturday morning. Yet the quiet grad student couple and 2 of their friends who want to rent a 3 bedroom house cant do it if the landlord actually follows the city code.
