Along with all the new attractions to this years Cowal Highland Gathering there was one sad goodbye - to Cowals Highland dancing piper - Richard Anderson Richard, who announced his retirement earlier this year, was our piper for six years, and while some people would regard this as a short career, his huge personality made him a big part of the competitions. Cowal Highland Gathering Chair, Ronnie Cairns, made a very special presentation to Richard, a piece of our historic dancing boards! Richards distinctive piping style saw (and heard) him not just tap out the rhythm, but stamp it out - so there was no better gift to remind him of his career with us. Wed love to hear your memories of Richard, whether you are a dancer or have a story to tell.
