Alright, I was given the number 5. (Like this, and Ill give you a number!) So, heres 5 things you may not know about me... 1. When I was a child, I didnt want to be psychologist or a teacher (what I am now). As a child I wanted to be an archeologist/anthropologist, a chef, a concert pianist, or an architect. As you can see, I love artistic endeavors. For example, I love to cook and also enjoy designing dresses and clothes. Most of the skirts and dresses I wear are by my design. Pants on the other hand... 2. I am an INTJ (if you believe in the Myers Briggs). I am extremely introverted. I enjoy my me time and while I love my husband, I enjoy it when he goes out golfing or out with his friends to give me my me time. Along with my introversion, I would say that I have few friends, but many acquaintances. However, I am loyal and once I consider you my friend, I will defend you until your dying breath. 3. I have average intelligence, but love learning and am motivated and persistent. For example, as I child was much better at science and mathematics than reading/writing. I had to work hard at reading and writing. The challenge of having to work really hard in those areas made me want to be an English teacher when I grew up so that I could help others overcome their weaknesses in those areas. However, my senior year of college during student teaching in a first grade classroom, I realized I could do good work one-to-one or in small groups with children/adolescents that I ever could as a teacher, so I switched my major to Psychology/English. It took me another two years to finish, but I did it (+200 hours at the undergraduate level later). I guess, I am lucky that I am certified as a PK-12 grade teacher. As a psychologist working with children, I get which interventions just wont work in the school setting and which ones are more feasible. My fathers running joke for the longest time was that when he was asked what I would be when I finished school, he would say about 35. 4. My family is EVERYTHING to me. I have six siblings and I learn daily from them. My brother Michael is this amazing musician and is literally the SMARTEST person I know. His only child and one of my four nieces, Michelle, is growing into quite the young lady. My sister Sharon is also extremely intelligent, but in a different way from Michael. She is an old soul and one of the most giving people you could run across. Shes also athletic and health conscious, a great baker, and generally a good person. My sister Susan is the extrovert in the family. She never meets a stranger and will go out of her way to help you. Shes reared two beautiful intelligent children, Hillary and Chase, and is a wonderful mother. She has put her life on hold and has dedicated it entirely to them. My brother Kevin is the comedian and Grady reminds me a lot of him. Kevin is funny and EVERYONE likes him. He and I fought a lot as children, but he was always hard to stay mad at because, as my mother puts it, hes so darn cute!. He toughed me up, while everyone else pampered me....My parents also mean a lot to me. Now that I am older, I dont think I realized how much they meant until I had my son. My family is the ONLY reason I moved back to Florence and is the ONLY reason I stay put. If it werent for these guys, I would have chosen elsewhere to live and pursue my career. 5. My husband and child are the greatest things that have ever happened to me. They are my greatest accomplishments, if you will. My husband, David, was the first guy I dated to tell me and treat me like I was beautiful and smart. This built my confidence up more than anything else ever in my life (because I had none). He puts up with an awful lot from me and has followed me around the world so that I could pursue my dreams, constantly putting his own dreams on hold. When I was growing up, I always said I didnt want kids. Grady was my little surprise and honestly I would have missed out on so much! Now, I couldnt imagine my life without him.
