Alright. Once again I have to complain. So get ready. Ahem. Music is having a major identity crisis. Korn doing a dubstep album is bad enough but Steven Tyler wanting to do one too? Give us your rock star license cause the rock n roll police have pulled you over son. Also IDK if you have noticed but Linkin Park has gone dupstep as well. All you gotta do is hear the crap they wrote for Michael Bays Transformers movies. Ugh! Im getting ear infections again hearing that shit. Im sad about the current state of todays music. Techno and dubstep are two different genres in terms of sound. Techno is club music like Prodigy, Stereo MCs, Chemical Brothers, Sneaker Pimps, etc. You know, 90s dance stuff. Dubstep is pointless lifeless and tedious. It sounds like the dial up sound you when loading up onto the internet in the 90s on the crappy computers we had. Now we wanna download it on our iPod and call it music?! Are you kidding me? Rap has lost its humor and relevance. In the 90s, it was NWA who came up with gangster rap. There are very few rappers today who have ANY talent AT ALL: Eminem, 50 Cent, Slaughterhouse, Obie Trice. And there are ones who DONT: Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Nikki Minaj, Drake, and there are about 2,000 others who also cant rap yet theyre selling millions of records. In the 90s, 2pac and Biggie Smalls proved that real rap is more than just a bunch of rhymes. Not only that but rap has gotten so popular that it has gotten dull. Its lost its life for me. Pop music is dead. Its been dead for a long time. I think the boy bands and the girl bands ruined that BIG time. The Spice Girls had a spark to their music. They could barely sing or dance but they had that spark that is missing from pop music today. Dream, NSync, Backstreet Boys, New Kids On The Block, Destinys Child, 112, Blackstreet, Dru Hill, etc all helped bury pop. Who was the best and most talented group EVER? The Monkees. They had the integrity and the passion were all crying for. What style of music still has passion, integrity and the spark besides hard rock/metal? Country. Miranda Lambert wouldve made Johnny Cash proud cause of her rebellious nature. Carrie Underwood sings like an angel not to mention she has the vocal chords to make the naysayers fall to their knees. Though country has lost some greats to fan ignorance. Um, Dixie Chicks anyone? Dont even get me started on Toby Keith. What an asshole. Anyway, country still has passion and promise. If there is one style of music I would love to see come back with a merciless vengeance would be hard rock/metal. There are amazing bands out right now: Avenged Sevenfold, Seether, Kittie, ASG, Rise Against, etc. Nobody has had big enough hits to bring back rock music like it was in the 90s. Even though there will never be another Nirvana and if you know me, Im really sad about that, there has to be some untapped talent thats a force to be reckoned with. Every town and city has a rock scene. Are people not listening? No. Just not enough. Fans give you your fame. Not a record producer. They buy your records and support you by buying tickets to your shows. We debate about your music and sometimes we argue but thats only cause were passionate. I dont care how far I branch out with music in life, hard rock/metal will NEVER be forsaken. It changed me. It changed my life. And for that I thank you. \m/
