Alright, yall. Real talk. For the record, I will not be - TopicsExpress

Alright, yall. Real talk. For the record, I will not be participating in the new craze thats sweeping the nation, aka the Ice Bucket Challenge, because I do not want to dump ice on my head and also because I already donated money to St. Jude and the St. Louis Food Bank this month. IMO, the whole thing is kind of silly, BUT it has raised a TON of money and awareness for Lou Gehrigs Disease; something that a lot of people probably didnt know or care about last month and will probably forget about next month AND these same people are apparently having fun and feeling good about it. So even though I dont totally get it, its great that such a cause has been brought to light. If you have participated in the Ice Bucket Challenge this year - good for you. But srsly you better be donating money in addition to dumping ice on your head. I dont get it, but knock yourself out. Not literally. You might drown in your ice bucket. To the the ones that have ACTUALLY BEEN TROLLING the Ice Bucket Challenge. Please shut the Christ up. Im pretty sure that everyone knows that you dont HAVE to dump ice on your head in order to donate to charity. HOWEVER, if doing it, posting a video, and tagging your friends means that even more awareness is brought to ANY charity, why are you being so critical? Like seriously what have you done lately to promote causes that are close to your heart? Whats wrong with donating to charity and then encouraging your friends to do it? Is your horse so high up that you cant get down for like 5 seconds to stop complaining? Oooooh children in Africa dont have clean water?! Well I dont see you championing any kind of clean-water campaign. I cant believe that there are people out there that would be so bitter; much less people that Im actually friends with. If you dont want to do the ALS Challenge, dont do it. Its really that simple; but dont sit behind your keyboard and actually criticize people who are going outside and reaching into their wallets to support a cause. Posting multiple memes about how youre not going to do the ALS Challenge is sooooo much more annoying than posting a single video or status update that you are doing it. Like seriously are you for real right now? Youre better than this. *climbs down - puts soap box away*
