Alrighty, yall. Sorry for the radio silence for the last couple hours. First, we met with the pediatrician that will be coordinating her care while shes here, then we got moved upstairs to a room, and then had to do intake stuff with the charge nurse and attending nurse. So heres the latest. (we are in room 5405) All of the normal stuff for blood and spinal and urine tests have come back clear, except for low platelets and low white count. Like I said in another post, her CT was also clear. But based on the low counts, her fever, and her screaming with pain at times, plus her on and off mental disorientation, they know there is something up, possibly a viral infection, but not sure what. So now they are running all of the weird tests, for less common stuff, which will take awhile to come back. Shortly, shell be set up with an EEG and video monitoring, to rule out seizures and such. The MRI will likely come tomorrow. For now, theyre going to run another antiviral and likely another antibiotic. Shell get more Tylenol for fever and Advil for the pretty intense pain shes feeling, both from her original issues as well as from the spinal tap. The nurse basically said we should consider this our home away from home until we get this nailed down. She woke up from her nap in a good mood and ate some crackers and peanut butter, plus drank a Gatorade. Were trying soup next. Sometimes, she seems fine. Other moments clearly show that something is wrong. Thanks for all the comments and messages and texts and calls. Special thanks to Pastor David for coming to check on us and pray with us when wed just barely gotten in a room, and to Rhonda for sitting with Karen and Anne for taking Jeffrey so Chris could join us here at the hospital. Hopefully, well know more soon. We appreciate your continued thoughts and prayers. Oh, and here are a few pix from when we were still in the ER.
