Although I dont think the Tyler Seguin trade was that bad when it was made (emphasis on when it was made) ... watching the deliberations by the Bruins on whether to trade him or not is jaw dropping ... this group should never be referred to as the Bruins Brain Trust ... their reasons are ridiculous Nevertheless trading Seguin to Dallas could be self fulfilling prophesy ... Some players are just greta players on bad teams or teams that dont win championships ... Grabovski, Ribeiro, Kessel, Joe Thornton, Mats Sundin (even Pierre Turgeon and Alexi Yashin and Ovechkin to an extent) ... the Bruins may have doomed Seguin to that category where he becomes a top five player in the league but never a championship game changing player. There are players who were headed down that path but changed their attitude - most notably Steve Yzerman, Mike Modano - I remeber Bob Gainey benching Modano and having him play wing instead of centre and his comment to reporters was that Modano culd have played on the moon and been just as ineffective ... Scotty Bowman was trying to trade Yzerman for about 2 seasons until Yzerman became dominant as an all around player. I just cant resist thinking that the Bruins could have molded Seguin into the teams framework ... and for me at the time of the trade I understood that Seguins contract was kicking in and it was a risk for a Cap Team like the Bruins ... now his $5.75 cap hit for 5 more years is a relative bargain. https://youtube/watch?v=JRyIgatcTAs
